What does submitted to hiring manager for review mean?
Last updated on: April 21, 2022. The Hiring Manager Review stage is a secondary Application Review step within a job’s interview plan. It allows a Hiring Manager to (re)view candidates that initially caught a recruiter’s eye.
“Application Under Review” is neither a good nor a bad sign for getting a job. This term only means that someone will shortly be looking over your job application materials to determine whether to schedule an interview with you or not.
How long does it take for hiring managers to review applications?
It typically takes one to two weeks to hear back after applying for a job. An employer may respond faster if the job is a high priority, or if they’re a small and efficient organization. It can also occasionally take longer for an employer to respond to a job application or resume submission.
Perhaps the interviewer will have very little say in the final decision. Thus, when there is any lingering uncertainty, “HR will contact you,” becomes a catch-all phrase that punctuates the interview without hinting at a solid yes or no. The way the interviewer acts while saying this can sometimes reveal their intent.
Why do hiring managers take so long?
Job offers take so long because hiring decisions are crucial for a company and the wrong decision is costly. The interview and hiring process involves multiple people and departments which creates more likelihood of delays, complications, and a long duration.
According to a report from Glassdoor Economic Research, the average hiring process in the US takes 23 days. Some industries tend to have more extended processes (government jobs take an average of 53.8 days to fill), while others make speedier decisions (restaurant and bar jobs take just 10.2 days to fill on average).
What does application being reviewed mean?
It mean someone looked at your application but hasn’t taken to share a decision.
“Application under consideration” usually means they are reviewing your information to see if you would be a good candidate for the job.
